Children's Privacy Policy
Version 1.0
Effective: August 21, 2026
This Children's Privacy Policy explains how Playerborn LLC ("playerborn," "we," "us," or "our") handles information about children in connection with the playerborn platform, websites, applications, and services (the "Services").
It forms part of our Privacy Policy and should be read alongside it. Terms defined there have the same meaning here.
We use "child" to mean a person under 13, and "player" to mean any athlete a development record concerns, of any age.
1. The short version
- Children do not have playerborn accounts. A parent or guardian holds the account and receives the child's development updates.
- We do not collect information directly from children. Roster information comes to us from the Club.
- Clubs obtain parental consent before giving us a child's information, and our written agreement with each Club requires it.
- We do not advertise to children, we do not sell or share their information, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
- A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to show them what we hold about their child, correct it, delete it, or stop us collecting more.
2. Children do not hold accounts
Accounts are held by adults. A child is never invited to create an account, never sets a password, and cannot sign in.
Where a Club provides a player's own email address on the roster, that address may receive development updates, voice memos, and messages. It does not create an account and does not give access to the Services. A parent or guardian can ask their Club to remove that address at any time.
3. Information about children, and where it comes from
We receive the following about a player from the Club, not from the player:
- Name, age group, team, position, jersey number, and birth year where provided
- A parent or guardian email address and phone number
- A player email address, where the Club provides one for delivery only
We create the following from what a coach records:
- The transcribed text of a coach's spoken observations about the player
- Structured development records derived from that text
- Written development updates and summaries about the player
A Club or coach may also upload photographs of a player, including at tryouts and clinics, and a coach may record a short voice memo for the player's family.
Audio a coach dictates when recording observations is transcribed and is not stored. We do not create voiceprints and we do not use voice to identify, distinguish, or profile anyone.
We collect IP address and device information from anyone using the Services, which means from the adult account holder, not from the child.
4. Parental consent
playerborn is provided through Clubs. Before a Club gives us a child's information, the Club is responsible for providing notice to, and obtaining verifiable parental consent from, that child's parent or guardian, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). Our written agreement with each Club requires this and requires the Club to keep records of it.
A Club acts as our agent for this purpose. If you are a parent or guardian and you were not asked for consent, tell us at admin@playerborn.com and we will take it up with the Club and, if consent was not obtained, delete your child's information.
Consent to your child's information being used within playerborn is not consent to anything else. We do not use children's information for advertising, do not disclose it to third parties for their own purposes, and do not use it to train artificial intelligence models. Where any of that would ever change, we would ask for separate consent first.
5. How we use children's information
Only to provide the Services: transcribing what a coach said, attributing it to the right player, generating development updates and summaries, producing trend and development information, suggesting drill and training videos, and delivering updates to the player's parent or guardian.
We do not use children's information for advertising, marketing, or profiling, and we do not condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary.
6. Who we share children's information with
We do not sell children's information and we do not share it for advertising.
We share it with the service providers listed in Section 8 of our Privacy Policy, each of which may use it only to perform services for us, under written agreements requiring them to protect it. The providers that receive text about a player are OpenAI for transcription, and Anthropic and Google for generating written material. Each is contractually prohibited from using that content to train its models.
Within the Services, a child's development information reaches their parent or guardian, the coaches assigned to their team, and their Club's administrators.
7. How long we keep it
We keep information about a child for as long as the Club uses the Services and the child is on one of its rosters. When a Club stops using the Services, or a child is removed from its rosters, we delete or de-identify that child's information in accordance with our agreement with the Club.
We do not keep children's information indefinitely, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete it sooner at any time, and we will.
Dictated coach audio is not kept at all.
8. Parents' and guardians' rights
At any time, and without giving a reason, a parent or guardian may:
- See what personal information we hold about their child
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete their child's information
- Refuse to allow us to collect or use any more of it, which will mean their child can no longer receive updates through the Services
Email admin@playerborn.com or contact your Club. We will verify that you are the child's parent or guardian before acting, and we will respond within 45 days.
If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response or emailing admin@playerborn.com with "Appeal" in the subject line.
9. Security
We maintain a written information security program covering children's information. It includes encryption in transit and at rest, row-level access controls that restrict a child's information to their parent or guardian, their assigned coaches, and their Club's administrators, restricted administrative access, monitoring for errors and unusual activity, and written assurances from each service provider that they will protect information we send them.
Before sending children's information to any service provider we take reasonable steps to determine that the provider can maintain its confidentiality, security, and integrity, and we obtain written assurances to that effect.
10. If we learn a child gave us information directly
If we learn we have collected personal information from a child without the required parental consent, we will delete it.
11. Changes
If we make a material change to how we handle children's information, we will publish an updated version and, where COPPA requires it, obtain new parental consent through the Club before the change takes effect.
