Ashgrove 14U GirlsCoach Whitlock's notes on Ava since the last update
Tue Sep 22

Ava, really good job pushing the ball in transition tonight. She's seeing the floor, she found the weak side shooter twice. Her left hand though, she's going right every single time and the defense knows it. She's got to be able to get to her left.

Ava's closeouts are a mess. She's flying at shooters and getting blown by, every time. Short choppy steps, hand up. And she's gotta box out, she's watching the ball on the shot.

Thu Oct 1

Ava ran the ball screen really well in the scrimmage, she's starting to read the hedge and hit the roller. Pull-up off the screen looked really smooth. Left hand still, she picked the ball up twice when they forced her left.

Honestly her body language after the turnover was terrible. Head down, sulking, jogged back on D. Can't happen, she's our point guard, everybody's looking at her.

Tue Oct 6

Ava was talking a lot more on defense today, calling out screens, really good. Closeouts are better, she's breaking down now. Still a bit late on her help side rotation.

Ava hit two pull-ups going right, nice and balanced. Box out still isn't there, she's letting the other girl get inside position.
